Accenti Magazine Awards 2015 – Winners Announced


Montreal, April 27, 2015 - Winners of the annual writing and photo contests were announced during the Accenti Magazine Awards, an event of the 17th Blue Metropolis Montreal International Literary Festival. The event was hosted by radio and TV personality Marianna Simeone. Presented by publisher Domenic Cusmano and editor-in-chief Licia Canton, the 2015 Awards featured the winners of the 10th writing contest and of the 8th photo competition, “Capture an Italian Moment.”


The grand prize winner of the Accenti Photo Competition and the recipient of the $1000 prize is Francesco Licandro of San Pietro Clarenza, Italy, with his photo Swordfish. Vincenzo Grande of Castel San Vincenzo, Italy, won second prize ($250) for his photo Festa di Sant’Andrea, Amalfi. Doron Talmi of Herzliya, Israel won third prize ($100) with the photo Appetite Venice. An honourable mention went to Rondi Adamson of Toronto, Canada, for Rainy Day in Gubbio. The judges were Elizabeth Cinello, Flavio Gregori and Nicola Zavaglia.


The grand prize winner of the Accenti Writing Contest and the recipient of the $1000 prize is Rosanne Pagano of Anchorage, Alaska, with her story Truth, More or Less. Judith Bridge of Kewsdale, Australia, won second prize ($250) with Twinset. Maria Mallozzi of Mississauga, Ontario, won third prize ($100) for Salute. Teresa Gaito of Toronto received an honourable mention for Un Po Di Tacco Ce Vuole. The judge was Terri Favro and the reading committee included Mark Bednarczyk, Lucia Cascioli, Eufemia Fantetti, Rene Pappone, Emma Pivato, Tania Zampini.


The 2015 Accenti Magazine Awards were made possible by the Association of Italian Canadian Writers (AICW), Member of Parliament for St-Leonard/St-Michel Massimo Pacetti, Accenti Magazine Foundation and Blue Metropolis Foundation.
